Domaine Ampelhus
The winery at Domaine Ampelhus dates back to 1872. It had stood unused for 50 years, as the previous generation no longer made wine on the estate. Jenia and Thibaud brought it back to life, replacing the old wooden vats and casks with modern equipment.
The winery retains its character through its magnificent timber roof structure and historic ratchet wine press, which is still in use. Grapes are still transferred into the vats in the traditional way, fed by gravity through the windows.
At the crossroads of tradition and modernity, the winery gives the wines of Domaine Ampelhus a sense of history and a soul.

Soil: Silica-rich rounded pebbles embedded in red, iron-rich clay.
Tasting notes: Deep purple in colour, with blackcurrant aromas and balsamic notes. The palate is appealing and spicy, with hints of garrigue, a harmonious structure and a lingering finish. Serve between 16 and 18°C.
Food pairings: This wine pairs beautifully with rack of lamb with honey and thyme, gardiane de taureau (a traditional Camargue bull stew) and mature cheeses.
