AOC Grés de Montpellier, Le Chai d’Émilien
Winery: Le Chai d’Émilien, SUSSARGUES
Appellation: AOC Grés de Montpellier
Vineyard management: Agriculture Raisonnée (MAEC)
Alcohol content: 14,5%
Grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre
Soil: Clay-limestone soils.
Tasting notes: Deep in colour with violet highlights, this red wine’s nose is still marked by oak ageing, though notes of blackberry jam, ink, violet, smoke and toast are already emerging. A final hint of eucalyptus brings considerable freshness.
The wine will show its full expression from this autumn and over the following five to six years. Beyond that, its style will evolve*, but it may continue to improve if properly cellared.
Food pairings: Ideal with a cheeseboard, chocolate desserts, roast leg of lamb with rosemary or game.
